Wing Chun is a fast, efficient, direct and effective form of martial art, Emphasis is placed on economy of movement, fluid execution of technique, and efficient use of energy. Wing Chun is a fighting system which does not rely on brute strength or athletic ability. Wing Chun adheres to the fighting principles as expressed in the three forms.
Siu - Nim - Tau, the first form in the system emphasizes the development of Inertia energy and is imperative to the Wing Chun student. Focus is also placed on the student's structure and stance along with the development of skills fundamental to the system of Wing Chun.
Chum - Kiu, the second form, is based around the development and application of Potential energy. Chum Kiu develops a student's mobility, stance, hand, elbow and leg techniques.
Biu - Tze, the third form in the system, promotes the understanding and development of Kinetic energy. It is an advanced form of Wing Chun emphasizing attack and the use of the fingers.
Chi Sau also known as Sticky Hands is a form of sparring unique to the Wing Chun system, where defence is attack and attack is defence. Chi Sao develops a student's ability to act conciously, encouraging the student to feel or sense the opponent's actions. Chi Sao incorporates the practical application of all techniques learned in free fighting.
The Muk - Yan - Chong or Wooden Dummy form comprises of 116 movements, encompasing much of what has been learned in the three forms, Chi Sao and other components of the system, the Wooden Dummy is unique to the Wing Chun system.
Further more, two weapons, the Bart - Cham - Dao or Eight - Cutting Broadswords
used simultaneously in both defence and attack and the Six and a half point pole complete the system.
